DON CAME SEMINAR
NAIHANCHI / TEKKI
We are both excited, and honoured, to be hosting Don Came Sensei for a Seminar in March this year!
Don Sensei cannot be mentioned without at least a passing reference to Vince Morris Sensei. Anyone around in the "karate hey-days" of the 60's/70's/80's will surely know of Vince Sensei's very successful career in Karate kumite (sparring). After becoming disillusioned with some aspects of "traditional" Karate as it was then being taught, Vince Sensei went on to pioneer the "practical" karate movement through his in-depth study of Karate kata.
Don Came Sensei is the Chief Instructor for the UK branch of Vince Sensei's Kissaki-Kai Karate organisation, and he is an extremely accomplished Karate practitioner and teacher in his own right.
Don has been actively involved in the martial arts since 1976. He has acted as a civilian instructor for a Metropolitan Police Karate club and taught successful self defence courses for the Crime Prevention Office in South London. He has a BSc (Hons) in Exercise Science from Brighton University and he was a key member of the renowned International Institute of Kyusho Research (IIKR). He has had a number of articles published on the application of kata and is the author of the popular DVD "the Kissaki Method".
Don's teaching style is relaxed and friendly, but his wealth of knowledge and ability is clear to see. Please see the video below to get an idea of what to expect from him!
We've asked Don Sensei to present his thoughts on the practical applications of Naihanchi (also known as Tekki) during this seminar.
We have provisionally planned to hold this seminar in our Connor Downs dojo, but we may need to relocate to another venue if additional space is required (we will contact anyone who has booked if we have to change venue and notify the new venue address - it will not be any further away from Connor Downs than Penzance).
All places MUST be booked in advance, so please book early if you don't want to miss out.
Please arrive slightly early, as we will be starting on-time and not waiting for anybody.
N.B. We welcome Cornwall Karate members aged 12+ to these sessions, but we also welcome non-members providing they are aged 16+.
