Samurai Karate Cornwall !

Karate is a Japanese Martial Art, the history of which dates back to the fifth century A.D.

At Samurai Karate Cornwall’s classes, we teach a tradional style of Karate called “Shukokai”. “Shukokai” is a Japanese word meaning “way for all”. It is a technical style of Karate, which involves studying how the body works, and using this knowledge to make every technique as quick and powerful as possible.  For this reason, it is highly-effective for all students, whether male or female, young or old, tall or short, heavy or light.

Our Karate classes are currently held in and around the Penzance area of Cornwall; at present, we have classes in Penzance (at the Penzance Leisure Centre), St Just (at the St Just Sports Centre) and Pendeen (at the Centre of Pendeen).

We welcome students of all ages (from 6+) in our classes, and have both separate classes for children and adults, and mixed-age “family classes”.

We are happy to teach students of all abilities (from complete beginners to the more advanced), and of all levels of fitness.

For those unable to commit to regular Karate classes, or for those who live too far away from Penzance to easily attend classes, we also offer short self-defence courses on an ad-hoc basis(subject to demand).

Samurai Karate Cornwall is the local branch of Shukokai Karate Samurai England (SKSE), an Association Member of the English Karate Federation (the Governing Body for Karate in England).

Shukokai Karate Samurai England is also a member of Samurai Karate International, which is headed by Sensei Paul Mitchell (7th Dan Hanshi).

Samurai Karate International is part of the Shukokai World Karate Association (SWKA).  The Honbu Dojo (Headquarters) of the SWKA is in Kobe, Japan. The World Chief Instructor of the SWKA is Sensei Kawata (9th Dan Hanshi).
